报告摘要:Plasmonics has garnered tremendous research interests because of the unique capability of light manipulation down to subwavelength or even deep subwavelength scale. However, as the considerable plasmon damping originating from the intrinsic ohmic loss, noble metal plasmonic nanostructures have long been suffering from high optical loss, which severely deteriorate the device performance. In this talk, we will present our recent investigations on how to fighting with plasmonic optical losses. On the one hand, we have been developing a couple of low loss non-noble metal plasmonic metals to compromise the inherent trade off between optical losses and field concentration, aiming at provide alternative solutions to low loss integrated optics beyond noble metals. On the other hand, we have designed emerging hierarchical plasmonic meta-structures to boost broadband light harvesting of metallic materials, based on which we have enabled a couple of precise photothermal manipulations beneficial for solar desalination, in-situ photodetection and anti-detection, etc. We expect that these results would inspire new insights on low loss plasmonics and/or pay new routes towards metamaterial-based point-of-use applications.

报告人简介:周林,南京大学现代工程与应用科学学院教授,博士生导师,基金委优秀青年基金获得者。2012年6月毕业于南京大学物理学院光电科学系,获博士学位。2013-2017年在南京大学现代工学院能源系任副研究员、研究员,开展能源光子学交叉研究,2018年起先后在南京大学现代工学院光学工程系任职副教授、教授,期间(2018-2019)在美国哥伦比亚大学化学系任客座研究员,开展激子极化激元合作研究。研究方向为低损耗等离激元光子学、跨尺度热超构材料等。近年来在以(共同)一作/通讯作者在Nature、Nature Materials、Nature Photonics、Science Advances、Nature Communications等期刊发表论文90余篇,近五年Web of Science他引10000余次,连续入选中国高被引学者(2021-2025,物理学),部分成果入选中国光学十大进展(基础类,2020)和中国半导体十大研究进展(基础类,2020)、江苏省科学技术一等奖(自然科学,2022)、光学超构材料优秀成果(应用类,2024)、中国光学十大进展提名(应用类,2025)等奖励。主持/承担科技部重点研发计划课题4项、基金委优青/面上/重点项目、江苏省首批基础研究计划重点项目等科技攻关任务。
